Back on twitter.  I’m not putting the link on my blog, and I’ll leave it as an exercise to you to find me on there if you’re so inclined.

Rock Band 2

Totally digging the drums…the RB2 set is a vast improvement over the RB1 set.

Sometimes I love living in Arizona.

Random

Pdanet on my iPhone is fucking cool.  I’m blogging from my MacBook Pro, using my iPhone’s internet connection.  While waiting in a parking lot.

I finally switched the router over.  4 machines.  1 physical box.  Cleaned the hell out of my office too finally.  There’s actually room in the closet again.

New Pet

So it seems a western diamondback rattlesnake has taken up residence in the bush by my mailbox.  I think I’ll call him Spike.

Hopefully he’ll stick around longer than our mascot bat at work.

Meh

I’m too lazy to title this.  It’s random crap.

Meth heads are weird.  I don’t know why any sane business person would employ them.  They’ll get completely lost if your sentence exceeds 10 words, or has tricky things like references to things you said in the last sentence.  *shakes head*

Discovered that 2 jack stands are sufficient to change oil.  I used to use ramps.  Those things are such a pain in the ass in comparison.  I need to get me a floor jack though.  Damn screw jack is too slow.

Checklist Tree hasn’t seen any work in like, 2 weeks.  I need to get on that.  Nobody’s been complaining on the forums about it though, so that’s a plus.  Or nobody cares.  That would kinda suck.

My wireless GH3 guitar broke.  The 4th fret button doesn’t work reliably.  Lame.  Wired controller works fucking perfectly though.  I have no idea why they had to make the wireless one able to separate the neck from the body…stupid idea, and I’m fairly sure it’s why my guitar doesn’t work.

Rock Band 2 is pretty awesome.  Hard is actually…hard.  It’s kinda funny I was able to rent it from the Blockbuster on it’s release date.  I pulled that off with Mercenaries 2 also.  Strange luck I seem to have.  I’m probably going to buy it, but on the PS3.  Bluetooth wireless guitar and some trophy action.

The iPhone 2.1 update actually fixes a lot of the gripes I had about it.  It appears to get signal in more places, though I still lose signal randomly at my desk at work.  it will go from 4 bars to No Service and back.  Maybe they’re rebooting a tower or something.

Lost Odyssey is kind of pathetic.  I really expected better from a 4 disc RPG.  I didn’t think Uematsu would touch this heap of shit with a 10 foot pole.  The battle system is unoriginal, the cutscenes are just plain excessive, the plot is just silly, and the only thing that saves this game is that it’s so fucking pretty to look at.  And the music.

Mercenaries 2 is a awesome though.  It’s like GTA with more mayhem and funnier commentary.  There’s some people you’ll want to shoot in this game just to hear what they have to say about it.  Oh, yea…and the airstrikes.  Fuck yea.

At least I’ve been getting plenty of sleep.

Oh, and there’s a bat at work.  I think it’s our new mascot or something.  It never seems to leave, but sleeps in a different position every day, probably to let us know it isn’t dead (yet).

That’s all I got.

Oh yea, to the stupid cow who posted a comment (which I didn’t approve) on one of my many anti-cow posts…I’m not Black, and even I won’t post shit like that on my site.  Dumb white trash cunt.  Go die in your trailer.

Random Updates

So I was at Cracker Barrel for breakfast…I had to pee while I was there, and saw a man reading the Bible at the urinal.  Yes, that’s right.  He uses the urinal right next to mine in clear violation of the understood bathroom etiquette by which all men implicitly agree to abide, and pulls out his Bible and sets it on the urinal cap for the whole 15 seconds it takes him to do his thing.  Now, mind you, I’ve done this with a Calculus book, 10 minutes before an exam…but that was important.  How is reading the Bible so time-critical that it can’t wait while you go pee?  Maybe there’s a Psalm in there for kidney stones? Or bad urinary infections.  Who knows.

I added my PSN tag to the gaming thing on my homepage.  Just looking at the two side-by-side, you can tell which network has more money…Sony needs to open up their PSN API so I can have a real gamercard with all my trophies on it!

Heavenly Sword for the PS3 is awesome.  I love this game.  Grid on the other hand, blows.  It’s more fun to see how hoopty I can make my car by running into shit (and seeing if it can still run after that) than it is to just finish a race.

5 hours later…

So I decided to drop some lines last nite…what a disaster.

First, I tried to run the fish up the wall from the box at the floor level.  Fishing wire from one little hole to another little hole doesn’t work.  So I went up into the attic to find the hole there, so I could grab the fish.  No go there either.  In order to service the AC unit up there, the rafters are covered with these hard-as-fuck boards that are nailed to the rafters.  And just my luck, the wire I need not only goes under this little floor, but drops right in the goddamn middle of the floor.  Under me, that is.

So I painstakingly pull up the L-shaped support board only to find that I can’t manipulate the board up in the attic.  There’s just not enough room; I had to saw the board in half to move the part I needed to get at the wire drop.  I need to post pics of this at some point…because the amount of work involved in dropping 2 lines down a wall in this house is ludicrous. When I finally get to the wiring under my feet *grumble* I find not a straight drop down the wall, but a 3/8″ hole to drop cable down.  To make things worse, the coax is somehow stapled/nailed to the studs all the way down the wall, so I can’t just pull that up, drop two lines and split it.  No, the existing coax *has* to stay there.  This isn’t that much of a catastrophe; I’ll probably leave the cable in place so I can run satellite to the living room some day in the future…for, uh…free-to-air programming using the dish that was already on my house.  God though, what a pain in the ass.

So I reverse plan and start snaking cable down the wall.  Now if you’ve ever seen the back of a utility box, it has 4 holes in the back, in the corners, that are about the size of the cable I’m running through them.  Great.  So I went all Tim the tool man Taylor on that shit and ripped the box out of the wall, damaging the drywall above it.  That’s only an hour repair job, but still.  Anyway, 2 5 inch nails later and a lot of careful (not careful enough, apparently) wriggling of the box, the box dangles outside the wall.

Anyway, 5 hours later, I have an RG6 and a CAT5e in the wall, and a gaping hole from where the box was.  I need to pick up another new work bracket, a 3-module plate, and another RG6 module.  Oh, and some drywall repair supplies.

God I’m starting to hate home improvement projects.  I need to get this shit done so I can set up my new Airport Extreme and go back to playing Ratchet and Clank.

Bots gone, stupid people remain

Why do people even bother posting anonymously on blogs? You know, I can, and do, cross-reference cable IP’s across every blog I’ve ever had, owned, managed, or hosted, and your cox cable IP isn’t nearly as dynamic as you think it is.

Please, for the sake of your own sanity, don’t spam my blog with crap like that.  Further infractions will result in your entire /24 (or /16 for that matter) being added to the deny block in my httpd.conf.

Just for fun, I may even post your email address in the clear, maybe some spam bots are hungry.

Updates

I can’t think of a better title for this post.  It’s just some random updates.

  • Running cable is a pain in the ass.  I did one room (ya know, to make sure it can be done before making a party out of it) and it was the most grueling task of my life.  Every muscle I have hurts from climbing around like a fucking rafter monkey in the attic.  Not to mention that fishing wire is alot harder than everyone wants to say it is.  Now I just have to fish up one of the source feeds and split it.
  • ReCAPTCHA is fucking awesome.  I have zero spam since turning it on and disabling my aKismet plugin.  Furthermore, I used to get forum registrations from bots with the SMF native CAPTCHA…haven’t gotten a single one since I switched the system to use ReCAPTCHA.  Fucking awesome.
  • Elliot electronics here in Tucson is the shit.  Got 430 feet of RG6 coax for less than half the price it would have cost me at the Homo Depot.  I just wish Elliot wasn’t so far away from home.
  • PETA is filled with retards.  They seem to think that “inserting a probe into the rectum and passing 240 volts through [a rabbit]” is the easy way to do it.  I can’t help but find that funny.  Seriously, try sticking an electrode up a rabbit’s ass and tell me if it’s easier than just whacking the little fucker’s head against a table (a practice PETA also derides, because it occasionally leaves rabbits alive to be skinned).
  • Sega Superstars and Top Spin 3 are the absolute worst tennis games for the 360 ever.  At least I didn’t pay to rent them.
  • Playing regular XBox games on a 360 blows.
  • If you get the $21 (actually, $24 after the taxes, tarrifs, and other forms of anal-oriented sexual abuse by the government to fund the liberal need for shit like welfare) one-out-at-a-time movie/game thing from Blockbuster and get anything else with it, make damn sure the clerk understands which one is the game you want on the program, and which one you want for a week like a regular rental.  That’s 10 minutes I’ll never see again.

Yep, you’re absolutely right…

I think that’s all I have for now.
