LOL…bet ya all thought I was gonna talk about one of my ex-girlfriends.

So it finally got cold enough (65 degrees) in my house that I needed to be warmer, so I finally cranked up my furnace. Oh my god have I missed having a gas furnace. My whole house got warm…fast. I sat on my couch, and it was like having a campfire in my living room. God I’ve missed that.

A year of living in that shithole apartment had made me forget how nice gas heat was; what with the shitty electric furnace in that fucking shit hole.

So I’m encoding a movie using AutoGK and it’s almost done (like, 20 minutes left) so I get bored and decide to read my old blogs on my blogger account. This was preempted by seeing my other blog that I don’t link to from here go hot with a new post, reminding me to update…anyway…I was reading through my old blog (csgeekpyro.blogspot.com) and I realize I used to post a lot more frequently than I do here. I had a lot more stress and a lot more to bitch about back then, too. But anyway, since I’m just killing time anyway, I’m finding myself of little over a year and half past to be quite entertaining.

So I got bored today and decided to update the site. I added a forum, mostly because I’m getting a ton of emails from people regarding the software section. I also did some code cleanup, added some error handling (there shouldn’t be any more nasty little PHP errors about not finding files), fixed some includes for reusability, and most importantly, cleaned up the admin sections (haha, you don’t get to see that) that I use for the anime section among other things.

Oh, and I’m now testing on Firefox 2.0. Everyone should upgrade!

So I’ve been having this problem for about a year now…I want to connect to my work’s VSS database from home, so I can work without remote desktop. I don’t like the idea of remote desktop from home, because when more than 2 people are remote desktop connected to their machines, there isn’t enough upstream bandwidth to support them. Big pain in the ass, but anyway. So my plan was to just connect to vss from home, and work disconnected, using my development environment at home. The problem was, whenever I went to connect to VSS, I would get authentication errors. Now, I was VPN’d into my work net, I was able to browse \\vssserver\vssshare just fine, but VSS would not log on.

So, since I plan to get some work done over the holiday weekend (yeah, I have no life, I know) and don’t want to drive half an hour into work to fix connection issues, I gave the problem more thought. I tried to see if it was a filesystem issue; I set up a vss repo on my dev box at work and connected to it from home. The problem still occurred, so it’s not a filesystem issue; I’m an admin on my box. So I went into vss manager and manually created a user that did not exist on my domain or machine and set it up. Worked fine. So, long story short, just create a new user that isn’t attached to your domain or computer via windows authentication.

I’m irritated as hell by the Wii lately. The more I see it, the more I just want it to see it fail miserably, like the Sega Saturn.

So I was watchin the commercial for a game called Red Steel..you’ve all probably seen it by now, with the guy wielding the Wii controllers like 2 katanas. What bugs me the most tho, is why did they rip off Pai Mei’s character from Kill Bill? What the hell would a Chinese Wushu master know about using a katana? What the hell kinda training ethic does he have if he coaches his students to play games on a gay system.
